The Rotational Molding Process
The roto-molding process begins when plastic resin is placed into a hollow steel or aluminum mold. It is then placed into an oven and rotated on two axes at a low speed. As the material heats, the resin starts to adhere to the mold’s inner surface and the part continues to form until all of the resin is completely fused. The mold is then cooled by air or water, or both, until the mold returns to standard temperature. The mold is then opened and the part is removed.
